I almost have enough money to build a whole new system. One more paycheck or so. I already have a few parts picked out and finally have decided on a dual monitor setup so i need some feedback on what my NEW primary monitor should be.

Currently i have a Viewsonic VP171b (1st Edition - 16ms) and its fantastic.
I see now that theres a VP171b-2 (2nd version - 8ms) out for about $330

Ive heard some great reviews on a Hyundai L90D as well (8ms) which is about the same price so im stuck at a dead end.

The main difference i see between the monitors is the VP171b is only 17in while the L90D is 19in. Also personally i dont care that my dual monitor setup wont match, thats if i get the Hyundai so thats not an issue. Can you guys guide me with some knowledge on which one to buy?

I loove my L90D+. I has great color (despite the 6 bit panel) and a great response time. I does very well in gaming (CS:S, Doom3), no ghosting whatsoever. That said, I have no experience with the viewsonic. What panel does the VP171b use? Is it 8 bit? I think I would go with the hyundai, larger size and great performance for around the same price...

most the early 8ms monitors use 6bits for color reproduction instead of 8, which can be a big deal depending on the applications you wish to use (ie photoshop...), viewsonic should state whether theirs is a 6bit or 8bit, if its 8 then it probably makes more sense then the hyundai, if its 6 then the Hyundai is probably the better deal

Those are my two choices so far... I was JUST about to get the Hyundai when I saw it still uses the old 6-bit... dammit!!

I'm a hardcore gamer, what would be my best choice?

L90D is great for gaming.
IMO, 6-bit or 8-bit makes little difference for gaming. If you are a hard core grapgics artist, then yes you want an 8-bit.
Get the L90D and be happy. :)

Yeah the only thing I would be doing is playing games, or doing homework. I will probably NOT be watching movies or doing heavy graphics work. Maybe messing around on PhotoShop now and then, but that's it.

So I wouldn't really notice the missing colors?
