I don't get all this ID stuff.
I live in a state that has had no voter ID laws passed.
And yet ever since I started voting many years ago, fighting off Indians in my covered wagon to get to the polls, the poll lady always asked for name, address, and license or registration card to check against her list.
With all this voter ID talk and pushing new laws, you'd get the impression Joe Anybody could just stroll up and vote willy nilly, over and over.
Doesn't work that way. Never has.
FYI republican legislators.
Every polling place has a list or printout with every legally registered voter living in that precinct down on that list.
The way it works, one enters the building, then asked their name, some form of ID is viewed, the list is checked, and you are handed your ballot.
And that system has worked for generations. Just as is.
So remind me again why all this sudden freakout over voting?
It wouldn't have anything to do with intimidation, or skin color, or party affiliation, now would it?
What is so ironic is with this thinking that imposing stricter voter ID laws would only hurt minority democratic turnout.
I see a lot of senior republicans, more so republican, being turned off by these laws.
I mean... if republicans generally have better turn out than do democrats, then the democrats that will not turn out to vote probably wouldn't turn out in the first place.
Thus the number of registered republican voters disadvantaged would be far larger proportioned vs democrats disadvantaged.
Not every elderly, minority, or woman republican has a car, a picture ID, and a ride to their poll.
Republicans in state control are once again stereotyping.
They seem to be pretty good at that. To their own disadvantage.

if the ID's were free, would they be considered a poll tax since there is no monetary cost to obtaining one? :hmm:
No, I 'm saying I'm typing in an iPad.
you need id to buy beer, why whine when voting. I have never seen anyone not have id when buying beer or cigs,if asked for it.
So long as the documents needed to obtain the ID are also free. That scenario has already been ruled kosher by the courts as well.
The problem is, most off these ID laws don't do that and they puck and choose what supporting documents can and can't be used.
Then the issue is that the people lack the necessary documentation to get the free ID.
So basically the issues is the left thinks that people with absolutely no evidence of their existence as lawful US citizens should be allowed to vote.
One guess why
If you kicked out the 12 million illegals I probably wouldnt be so concerned about implementing a Voter ID program.
Sorry but Mexican passports/DL don't count as valid supporting documentation
In other words you are reiterating what I said yesterday.
You think people completely unable to provide evidence of who they are should be allowed to vote.
No you fucking mentally retarded idiot! There are lots of reasons people don't have the necessary documentation, just because you aren't capable of thinking how that might happen doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Now go take your meds, your posts are becoming annoying and stupid again.
Whew, there's at least shards of logic in this thread after the OP.

Obviously these people don't have medical insurance either (they must be independently wealthy or they just don't pay) since you need an ID when applying for coverage and need to show ID at the doctor's office to get treatment...
If you just show up at the ER to get treatment for anything, do you have to show ID to the admitting staff before they see you??

Amazing isn't it? It's almost like they intentionally ensured that Medicare and the like did not have excessively restrictive means of confirming ones eligibility to prevent eligible people from being denied access.
I should skip paying for insurance and just go to the ER. When they ask for ID, I'll just tell them I don't have any. I'll tell them my name is Santiago Rodriguez. When they don't believe me I'll just scream racism because I have a Hispanic name.
