Yeah, well, I'd appreciate it if you stopped using ATPN as your blog as well.

LOL... listen to this guy.

This your house or something?

Hardly.

This is what really means to be middle of the road, you malign both sides for their faults instead of just selectively picking on one side while ignoring the same faults on the other, as you are doing.

Buahahahahahaaa!!!!!!

Coming from the biggest partisan troll hack who pretends he's not on these forums, I'll take this as a compliment.

C'mon, CAD, link us to your last post that was actually critical of Republicans. Hell, I'll be satisfied with just seeing the last time you actually took an objective position on anything.

Well I have plenty of friends and relatives who are Democrats that are nothing like those you describe. I have large amounts of Republican relatives who not only can't talk about politics without losing their minds, but spend their leisure time parsing the bible trying to predict when the world will end. (their answer? SOON)

The difference is that I would never try to take my small number of experiences and try to make such an absurd blanket statement about approximately 100 million people. As far as who is embarrassed to be with what party, I'll just mention that Republicans have been going out of their way this year not to use their party name or associate themselves too closely with it. Now that's a good example of who should be embarrassed.

Come to think of it, you fit the very example I've been describing. If I recall, I put up a thread a week or so ago, and you were the only one there who couldn't remain civil or post anything without personally attacking someone else. In that very thread, I expressed these same sentiments; voicing them was in direct response to YOU, ending with "thanks for proving my point." You seemed to find it rather... "challenging"... to express yourself without insulting one's intelligence and, based on your responses here, their religious beliefs, as well. While I'm not a particularly spiritual person myself, I see no reason to drag one religion or another through the mud in a lame attempt to make a point.

While the response above is many measures more civil than your previous ones, I still rest my case.

Likewise. Your blinders have been on too tight since you fell for BHO. One doesn't have to be critical of both sides to not have a horse in the race. But we've been over this before. BHO represents everything I dislike about Liberalism in the US, thus I will fight him at every turn. Just because the GOP has lost it's Conservative way does not mean I need to bash them to please you. But in any event - I have posted many times about what is wrong with the GOP, Bush, etc. You just don't seem to see it when it happens. No, it doesn't happen near as much as I bash BHO, his flock, and Democrats but then again - they are the one's ideologically opposed to me so they get my attention most of the time. :)

Sorry you can't handle the reality of this situation. Hell, I'm sorry that you can't see how incredibly insane it is for a self-proclaimed "libertarian" to support the likes of BHO. Meh... whatever floats your boat.

If you were paying attention, it was jbourne77 who was saying that only democrats act froth at the mouth.

I also said, "So to accuse just one party of meeting the public eye as frothing-at-the-mouth hyenas goes beyond disingenuous to just downright silly."

Pretty much been my take, too. Hell, look at Hillary Clinton's entire campaign. The entire base of it was a blanket hatred for Republicans, and she never minced words about it, either.

Can you imagine the outrage if McCain ran his campaign like that?

As opposed to his appointing a horribly unqualified VP just for the far right evangelical and female democgraphic, and run a negative and dishonest, chaotic campaign?

The characterization of Hillary's campaign is quite wrong as wll, but I'm sure you think that's accurate. Poor, persecuted Republicans.

And if you bother to look at lots of other threads if people are using their brains when talking about an issue I will discuss it with civility every time. I'm completely intolerant of stupidity though, in that case you're right. I was personally attacking you because you were acting like an idiot, it had nothing to do with politics or anything else. I beat up on dmcowen all the time for acting like a retard and there's nobody here more leftist than that guy.

Long story short, if you want to discuss politics in a civil way then discuss them intelligently and honestly. If you act like an idiot, I'm going to treat you like one.

Perhaps you weren't paying attention. He voted against McCain.Bush (you know, the guys responsible for the biggest growth of our federal government in history).

The myth that Republicans represent fiscal responsibility and small government has been shattered, at least for anyone paying the slightest attention. It's a trend that started under Ronald Reagan -- who added trillions to our debt and spent more as a percentage of the GDP than any administration in the last 50 years -- and reached its pinnacle under George W "What's a few trillion more among cronies" Bush. John McCain is very much a part of that. While he started as a bit a maverick many years ago, he's religiously towed the BushCo line for the last several years. One need look no farther than his campaign machine to see that he really represents business as usual.

There is no rational reason to believe Obama will be worse that Bush/McCain, and many reasons to recognize he may be better, potentially much, much better. Republicans have had eight years, and fscked it up spectacularly. It's time to give someone else a chance. If they screw it up too, we can vote against them in 2010 and 2012.

If we survived eight years of BushCo, we can easily make it through four years of Obama. All it takes is rising above petty partisanship and doing what's best for America.

And you missed it.

<sigh>

All of your spiel up there does not change the truth of my statement. Obama will NOT decrease the SIZE of government.

Neither party will decrease the SIZE of government.
If you think that McCain will decrease the size of the government you are sorely mistaken.

That's just how politics are right now with a two party system. Look at how much Bush has increased the power of the federal government and how much he increased it's size. Until we have a third party that actually stands a chance (e.g. Libertarian), then that is the way it will be for the near future.

You missed it as well...

sigh

Neither one will. Where exactly did you get the idea I thought that?

Oh. Was that your point? If so, you made it poorly. Your statement, "Greeat! Lets throw a big government party!" (quoted in its entirety), sounds suspiciously like one of the major talking points of the RNC, that Democrats alone are the party of big government. If you don't want to be misunderstood in the future, it would be helpful if you added at least a hint that your position diverges from that talking point. My $0.02.

Check your sarcasm meter maybe?

Neither candidate is going to decrease the size of govt. Period.

So the question becomes, not big govt vs small govt, but what kind of big govt do you want?

Bingo.

Ah this is a great statement that you singled out. So what seems to happen is while a party is in power, its radical members start to take over. We saw the same thing when the Democrats were in power. So now we have this presidential race and as far parties are concerned, its a lose lose situation. I would consider both candidates relatively moderate compared to their own parties.

So now we have to decide which issue is most important to us right now. Regardless if you dislike McCain, you have to admit that he's got the most military sense, which is needed to clean up the Iraq mess. Regardless if you dislike Obama, you have to admit he is better suited for the domestic front.

I don't think race will be decided based on who is the better presidential candidate. This is going to come down to who is the better VP. The VP candidates are pretty much opposites of the other party's Pres candidate.
