Brake dust has driven me to consider black wheels because it's a PITA to keep up with cleaning my "bright aluminum" every week or two. I realize one's an E70 and the other is an F15, but simple question - which setup looks better to you? I'm so on the fence that AT will in fact decide for me.

Personally, I prefer silver with the white car.

It's just an aesthetic decision - no wrong answer. Just about your priorities and perspective.

When I was a kid, my parents bought their first new car, a 1992 Ford Aerostar minivan in light brown. The first time my uncle saw it, he said to my mother, "nice color - hides dirt good."

My father thought it was some kind of insult, until my mother explained that my uncle's first new car had been navy blue, which he had driven home and parked under a tree. Which was shedding pollen in early June. His beautiful blue car quickly became yellow, and later, "that goddamn car he had to wash every day or two."

I'm not generally a fan of black wheels. Even if they're nice rims, I can't help but be reminded of black spray painted steelies when I see them.

I do think the black looks good, but I also think that it is a fad that is already showing its age and a bit to far on the "bro" scale for me. I'd personally just go with what you already have.

Black is more utility...Chrome it out!

I know what you're saying about the brake dust. I have 8 wheels that need to be cleaned badly, but I've not had time lately to deal with it due to more pressing matters.

I prefer the look of black or gunmetal grey wheels on most cars. It looks aggressive but clean and not over the top and it also hides brake dust well.

IMO, the black looks better and is less maintenance. I know the look has been around for a while now, but I'm still a sucker for clean white cars with tinted out windows and black rims.

I don't see the issue...you'll have black wheels in no time

Personal preference is gunmetal/anthracite.. but of the two you showed, black. Is the white/silver yours? I'd paint the moldings white like in the second picture if you go black.

Once you go black... But yah, I like those better. Are we looking at the specific wheels or just color? 'cause that will influence my opinion just as much as the color.

The stock color is actually gunmetal, which at the time I felt was a bit off to contrast the white. That's why I dipped it bright aluminum in the first place. It would certainly make cleaning a bit easier (cleaning from dip really sucks)... but I really am not feeling it against the white. On a darker or black car, probably.

I think the point mentioned above about doing the fender flares white makes a difference too... having that black with black wheels will make the package not look right. I may just dip that later.

Black rims will not look any better if you have a brake dust issue. Trust me, the rims on my Corvette look horrible after a few days. Switched over to PowerStop brakes and it's much better. Look into different pads and see if that helps.

^ new OE pads are already in. I did pick up some Armor All Wheel Protectant which has gotten good reviews for brake dust rinsing off. I just don't want it to show as much in between the washings.

I have a white Edge Sport and I chose the silver 20" wheels over the black 21" because I thought it looked a bit cleaner and classier. If anything can you stuff a larger silver or anthracite rim and clear the wheel wells?

I would vote black, but classy black. Not the "OMG I tune and my wheel has more spokes than all four of my tires have inches." black but maybe a slightly lighter black with thicker spokes.

Gunmetal is also very nice IMO, but I think it could be very different in person.

wtf?

soo... you want grey then? slightly lighter black is called grey.

if the trim on your car is going black, id say black wheels make it look good. if you want a more muted lok, go with a darker charcoal grey (or gunmetal). only other that would change the look drastically would be chrome. that wouldnt look bad either.
