Pick a favorite single player campaign. (I already expect MW2 & BC2 to pull ahead because of their multiplayer popularity) Just choose one based on experience, gameplay, graphics, and overall enjoyment. I chose Borderlands.

Man, my gaming life has tanked the past few years. I've only played 2 of those and was was FC 2 which I thought was terrible. Guess that means I have to vote for borderlands.

I voted mass effect 2. havnt played BC2 yet. but no game has ever sucked me in so much and left me wanting more. mass effect 2 made me want to play the original mass effect another 2 times.

Fallout 3 crashed so much I ended up getting rid of it before I got halfway through.

Undoubtedly Mass Effect 2, and closely followed by Borderlands (still haven't completed the latest DLC, and have yet to start a new game with two of the four available characters, it's quite a big game). I still haven't touched BC2's single-player, I went directly with its multi-player component... I'll have to find the time to do all of that and more with my games, I've been more busy than usual with my job since the past two months or so.

But, yes, to repeat myself, of the "latest" shooters ME2 is definitely the best, in my opinion.

I don't do a lot of MP gaming for shooters anymore, so for SP I'd probably have to go:

HL2EP2
Crysis (close 2nd)
ME2

I figure ME2 will win this.

However despite me liking most of these games listed. I voted borderlands for being significantly different.

Out of those games fallout 3 by a pretty large amount, mass effect 2 wasent as good as the first one and MW2 is decent but only from time to time, multiplayer gets boring after a while.

BFBC2. Try as I might, I could not get into any of the others. and I definitely would not call ME2 a 3d "shooter"

Oops, I also didn't read the single player part until after I voted. ME2 for sure for SP. BC2 for MP.

I've easily put 10x as many hours into Borderlands and any of the rest on that list. Mind you the single player wasn't "single player" for me haha. That's what made it so awesome. I think I've played through the main missions 3 times, the DLC's about 2 times a piece and done a fair share of weapons farming too. One of my favorite games from the past few years in terms of straight fun had.

I voted for Mass Effect 2, but I have only played that and MW2 of the games listed. The only other ones that interest me are Fallout 3 and Bad Company 2.

If MW1 had been on there, I would have voted for it, but MW2 was definitely a step down in the single player storyline and also multiplayer.

ME2 has much more in common with shooters than anything else, ME1 had more role-playing elements and the shooting was considerably less frequent, not to mention intense with a very few "big" fights when really necessary, while in ME2... well, I really don't want to go there now.

It's sad but not surprising that the list doesn't have a single Arena-style shooter up there. I blame Epic Games and Id for failing to create worthy sequels to their hit shooters. (Many of today's FPS gamers have never heard of Unreal Tournament, perhaps the greatest online multiplayer FPS of all time, which is a crying shame.)

FO3 was awesome, but the extreme bugginess of the game really detracted from the experience. Also the fact that the levels progress so quickly, so you hit max level before you explore even 1/3 of the entire place, was a bit detracting. It's like there wasn't a point to exploring anymore... great game though, I plan on replaying it over the summer. I picked ME2 because it was probably the best entire game experience for me. Borderlands would have been up there if it didn't give me unfixable motion sickness... I tried for so long to suck it up or fix it, but neither worked, and I stopped playing it because I couldn't play for more than like an hour and a half before I had to go lie down.

On that list I've only played FarCry 2, and it wasn't interesting enough to play for very long.

FEAR was the last compelling FPS I've played; the Fear 2 demo turned me away from recent FPS. It told me all I needed to know about where the genre was headed.

Only one of those I have tried, which was decent, was splinter cell.

As far as first person, I really liked Chronicles of Riddick, first and 2nd

But L4D2 far and away is my favorite shooter game by a mile. Tons of game modes, tons of fun. But not a single player game really at all (single player mode is really short, and once you play online, you'll never touch single player again)

No love for Bioshock 2 ? Hmm.....it isn't really that bad is it ? I really enjoyed the first one.

I also prefer Call Of Duty World At War over the Modern Warfare 2 though.
