I'm curious to know your favorite gaming technologies, please chime in
Multiple choices are allowed :)

I voted for 3D gaming, neural control (I'd really like to see two way neural communication, i.e. simulated G-forces), and gameplay enhancement. ;)

I like to play GAMES!
Not interactive movies.

I think technology should go backwards until developers remember how to make a video GAME, not an engine for generating box advertising.

I guess I would pick resolution and graphics as that is the most tangible difference I can notice. No interest in 3D or motion control.

Graphics and AI above all else. I know graphics sounds kind of shallow, but let's face it, would you really ohh and ahh at a game with excellent AI that still looked like the original Half-Life? It would be fun, but it wouldn't really feel as immersive.

I am waiting for neural control. Hands-free computing would be nice...

Hmm neural control would be fun, as would not retarded/cheating AI.

And stuff looking and acting lifelike that would be nice to.

You grouped PhysX together with AI improvements? Not seeing the logic behind that one. Good AI makes a huge difference in gameplay and immersion. PhysX, on the other hand, has mainly been used for inconsequential cosmetic additions.

Better AI, but more importantly, better gameplay, plot, dialog and character development. I still play Infinity Engine games and NWN1 mods, I do not really care about graphics, give me gameplay!

If neural control means that my character moves at merely the thought of me commanding it than I suppose that wins, but since that won't exist for decades (if lucky) I'll vote for AI. Even though it's old hat now, I still love playing around with physics to an extent (for example, propelling corpses hundreds of feet with a submachine gun in Deus Ex: Invisible War). Everything else is entirely extraneous.

I'd have thought it would be like in Red Faction Guerrilla or Bad Company 2. The physics have a tangible gameplay benefit. Mind you, that's not Physx that I can recall, but it still falls under gameplay enhancements.

Favourite technologies for me would be centred around mice.

Something simple like optical/laser mice, the scroll wheel, multiple buttons with software for customisation...

Such small technologies which such a big impact that most of us overlook because they integrated so well into our lives, not provided a sensual "whoa" like graphics or sound would.
