I checked out compusas ad in sundays newspaper and on the second to last page in the bottom right corner it has these prices and this is w/o rebate, Ive heard good things about those speakers but that was a few years ago, anyone have any experiances with them?

The Vortex2 SQ2500 is a good sound card, and would be a terrific
deal for $30 EXCEPT that Aurreal has gone out of business. That
means: No new drivers for any operating system and no manufacturer's
warrenty. I could live without the warrenty, but the lack of
new drivers is a potential large problem (unless you plan to
stick to old tried-and-true operating systems like Win98 for the
life of the card).

Also note that for about $45 or so you can get an OEM Soundblaster
Live card which will be supported in every OS for the forseeable
future.

I'm not sure, but it looks like he's saying that you get BOTH for $30.

I'm not sure if he means that each are $30 or both. If it's both then that would be a hot deal!

Aureal is not out of business. They did declare bancruptcy, but that does not preclude driver support. For one thing, another company might come along and buy them, etc... I loved my MX300 sound card. This is a good deal.

From what I have heard (second hand) from (recently made former)
employees at Aurreal, the company has ceased operations. Yes,
someone may buy the operations, but if they don't Aurreal is
not going to continue and there won't be any further driver support.

I just got the Advent speaker
pretty decent quality, got more juice than most speakers.
15 watt each sattelite, and 40 to subs.
the review is pretty good too (written around '98 - '99)
lowest I could find on the web is around 60.
I use this as a rear speaker in a 4 speaker set.
cheap enuff for that.
