Disble the DOS SB emulation, gameport and MIDI stuff if you don't use them according to instructions at da loser's link.

Also, on the first install, after the new hardware is found and you install the drivers, you have to wait until the Aureal icon appears in the systray (can be like a minute or 2) before the install is done.

What problems were you having?

The problems i have are BSOD's at random during desktop browsing and system lockups in UT. When i take out the vortex 2 uninstall it, the system runs good. I can't figure this one out. If this solution doesn't work i will just buy another sound card probably the turtle beach Santa cruz, But adsolutely nothing from CL. EAX sound blow goats.

Could it be an IRQ conflict? Check for any of those. My system used to lock up randomly because my MX300 was sharing IRQ11 with my PCI to USB controller and 1 of my NICs. I fixed the conflict and it hasn't locked up since.

Goi, that's what i was thinking too. The drivers seem to dislike my setup so as of right now i have offically given up on the card because it was just to much of a hassle to configure. So i'm going to buy the new turtle beach Santa cruz, I'll tell you guys how that one sounds too.

A pity...the Vortex2 is a nice audio chip...which card did you have?
Hope you have better luck with the Santa Cruz.

I have the Aureal Super Quad 2500, I just bought the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz today. Anyone have any thoughts about this new card?

Not really. I know it uses a Cirrus Logic chip, and personally I don't have such a good impression of Cirrus Logic, but that's because of their old video chipsets. Anyway, it comes from Turtle Beach so it can't be that bad...seems like it supports quite a lot of 3D APIs too, but then again I never cared much for them...
