Voodoo5 and Radeon VIVO on same computer treat DiVX differently. Clues?

This is a dual video card/dual screen setup. V5 and VIVO, both with 64MB.

I just realized that playing the same video with the same program will yield two different results, if I play in one screen versus the other.

With the Voodoo5 it plays great from the beggining, with the Radeon the video has bands for the first 10 seconds and then it gets normal. But sometimes it stays with bands to the end, like if using 256 colors only.

What are the inherent differences that could be causing this? Or could it be that the drivers work better with one card than the other?

divx is decoded in software so the videocard should make no difference aside from 2d performance and drivers.

Thanks Sickbeast,

so if I understand what you're implying... it means that either the V5 handles 2D better than the Radeon, or that the V5 drivers were better written than the Radeon. Which is possible, given the way ATi used to approach the video card business.

I know it could also mean that the DiVX drivers just plainly work better with a V5 than with an ATi.

But what I was hopping is that there was some Radeon setting that I forgot to check.

What settings should I be looking for to enhance DiVX display on a Radeon?

Thanks again,
WW
