Voodoo5 5500 OUT OF STOCK everywhere?

Recently I've noticed less and less vendors are selling this card...being many shops (online and retail) are having this 'out of stock' problem. If you haven't noticed, the price of v5 has dropped again from 180 to 130(search on ibuyer.net), should I rush out and buy one of the few that's left or should I wait and see? I am kinda on a tight budget but I've heard from people saying that these cards will be out very soon...anybody knows when they will stop selling these cards? by summer?

and btw, for image quality and FSAA, u can't beat v5...and that's why I have not considered GF2 card.

I don't know. I only use FSAA for sports games and driving games. I would use it for flight sims but I don't play flight sim games and FPS, I just play at 1280x1024 which is perfectly fine for me. One thing that the Voodoo card had was a good LOD option which made games look beautiful.

according to 3dfx/nvidia, they'll support it until next March.. so I guess the board will stop selling about next month..

pidge the V5 is great for other things than racing/sports/flightsims
for HL/CS ...1024x768/FSAA2X looks better than nVidia at 1280x960 (which is the highest res available) ...Radeon can't even do 1280x960 properly so for me it was useless in HL/CS.
Lets see, since 3dfx went out of business there have been like 2 new driver sets for this "dead card" that already runs great in DX8 (and in Win2k too). I have owned a Radeon & Hercules Pro ...went back to the V5

Would hardly say that, the biggest computer shop here is still selling the Voodoo5 with the SAME PRICE AS WHEN IT CAME OUT!!!

stupid people stupid people

of course retail stores wouldn't sell such a card for 130 bucks...i saw v5 featured for 199 at bestbuy sometimes ago, i went to local compusa, best buy, and some other stores recently but these cards are out and the manager said they are not getting more ... but if u search on ibuyer.net u can find it for $130, the price was around 180 1 week ago. what a difference...how can a card priced at over 300 drop to 130 in such a short time.

I found a local guy in town selling them for $190 Canadian after taxes. That's $120US or less!
I might just have to get a bigger student loan and get one while the timing is right!
I'm in the middle of a postage insurance destroyed package problem, but we're doing okay so far. Canada Post better fess up since I paid insurance for that reason. :|

RacerX,
I don't play those games so I guess I wouldn't know. In general though, I only use FSAA for driving games, sports games and occaisonal flight sim games. The Voodoo 5 5500 is still an excellent all around gaming card, no doubt about it and looks great to but I was just focusing on FSAA.

Pidge,
What kind of score did you get for the 3DMark2000 benchmark program on your GF2 Pro. I am only getting 4900 with my prophet II OCed at 230/460 MHz at 1024 X 760 at 32bit.

Sorry but I never tried 32-bit. Only 16-bit at 1024x768 which I got 7400+ (like 7485 or something close to that). That was with my card running at 210/450.

190 canadian where is this guy selling this card gope it is in toronto if you can give me a contact i would love to pick up a v5500 pci for 190 canadain....

the perfect time to buy v5, i never dreamed of seeing this card selling for a little over 100 bucks...at least not this year, but 3dfx's jammed the latest tech into this card and got busted shortly after, it's going to last for a while people, i'm buying one in march.
