I had a voodoo3 and I loved it, it was a great video card. I'm thinking of upgrading a crappy home system with a new vid card. I know the TNT2's were great but I don't know how good. Are they better than voodoo3's? How is the 3d and 2d compared to the v3's? Which card should I get for the money? thanks guys.

I would keep the Voodoo3 until you can upgrade to at least a Geforce2 MX400 (don't touch the MX200's). 2D quality on the Voodoo3 would be far better than the TNT2 and probably about the same in 3D performance.

Or you can get a Kyro 4000XT, Kyro 1, for 47 dollars from Micro Pro Inc. It's about the same speed as the MX 400, unless you use 16 bit, which you prolly will. It does have slightly better 2d though.

Oh just to clear things up, I'm looking into both a v3 or tnt2 and only looking to spend no more than 25 bucks, i did see the gf2mx's at newegg eglsfly, thanks anyway though.

edit: There is a tnt2 64 megger with TV-out available for 25 bucks? good deal?
Also, what's the difference btwn regular tnt2 and ultra?

I have an Asus TNT2 pro and two voodoo3 in three of my systems and the voodoo3 cards are faster. The tnt2 gives you 32bit gaming and the voodoo3 does not. The voodoo3 resolution seems better also.

Hey, if you're only looking to spend $25 for the card, go over to Compuvest. That's where I got my Diamond Viper V770 16 MB AGP TNT2 card. I like it, but I'm going to dump it soon for a Radeon.

You're wasting your time upgrading your Voodoo3 unless you get at least a regular GF2 MX or faster. A TNT2 is a sidegrade, not an upgrade.
