First off let me say that im not going to reformat my HD ...i have too much stuff that is not repacible.:)

What should i do to prep my computer for this new video card ( Visiontek gf3ti200), ive heard that installing a new videocard on a 3dfx machine is a biatch.

Im running Win98 , TB800mhz, asus A7V and a voodoo3 2000 PCI right now.

These are my questions:

1) what driver version should i install? ( im a total nvidia n00b,all i know is that the drivers are called Detenator)
2) what things should i be sure to uninstall? ( e.g 3dfx stuff)
3)Any other drivers i need to install (e.g MB drivers, agp stuff?)
4) do i have to do anything to my games before installing ( do i have to change all the glide/opengl games to direct3d?)

Anyother tips would be much appreciated! i really trying to make this transistion as painless as possible:)

You don't have to reformat, but it sounds like you need a backup strategy. That HD is going to fail.

well i am a modest computer user
just upgraded one of my systems from a g400 matrox millenium to a g3 ti 200
just d/l the newest drivers from nvidia or the 4 million other places that have theirs drivers and go...its real easy.
luckily g400 had an uninstaller utility....3dfx usually leaves some drivers behind in yer operating system....but seriously get a cdrw burner and back that stuff up before ya lose it all.

- change resolution to 640x480
- uninstall the video drivers
- remove videocard from hardware profile
- reboot (or shutdown and skip the next two steps)
- check whether the system still boots (just to make sure ;) )
- shut down
- replace videocard
- boot the system
- install drivers
- reboot
- done

:)
