Voodoo3 3500: Dead or not?

Recently I found my computer had frozen and upon rebooting I got the message FV no sync, FH no sync which persisted no matter what I tried. I tried slapping the voodoo in another system but it still didn't work, however when I put a geforce2 in the system the voodoo had been in previously, everything was fine. The heat sink on the card warms up after a while, and given the fact that there was a (albeit frozen) image on the screen before all this happened I'm hoping I can save the card. What do you think?

While Im at it, what's a better bet at the moment: a 9500 with the soft mod, 9500 pro, or a ti4200 in a 1.33 GHz Athlon? Thanks.

I don't like your chances, it sounds buggered. Probably a good 4 or 5 years old tho?

I'd say a ti4200 would be your best bet.

Thanks, I don't have a lot of time for gaming so it's probably not worth the $50 extra for a 9500 over a 64 meg ti4200. Is the MSI card that's going for $84 on pricewatch decent?
