I recently switched over from my Viper 770 TNT2 16MB card to a Voodoo3 3000. I often play Unreal Tournament or other Unreal engine based games, so I figured a 3dfx card would be ideal since Unreal was originaly a glide based game. Well .. my fps hasn't increased much; only by 4-6 fps. Judging from other's ppls benchmarks, I should be getting more fps than what i'm getting. I get around 45 fps in an average deathmatch
in 800x600 mode, with all details turned to highest. I have a P3 500Mhz, 128MB RAM, Voodoo3 3000 and am using the latest drivers
from 3dfx: v3-w9x-figs-1.05.00. 1024 x 768 is practically unplayable .. runs at only 25 - 30fps.

Can anyone offer any help? If any of you out there have system specs similar to mine,
can you tell me how much fps you get in Unreal Tournament usually at 800x600? 1024 x 768?

I had a voodoo3 2000 pci overclocked to 166 in p3-450
got about the same numbers you have, it's cpu speed related big time, checkout the above sites for speed inprovements.

if you want to play at higher resultions get voodoo5, I did, my low resultion speed is almost the same but, 1600x1200 will average about 30 to 35 in heavy online ctf matches

also note , i never had the 1.05.00 drivers, since i gave the card to friend, when i got the V5, but i had the 1.04.04 betas and the 1.04.09c leaked betas, they both gave better performance and improved graphics over 1.04.00 drivers in UT.

I think this card and game scale well with CPU speed.

At 800x600, everything at max, I get around 38-39 fps for UTBench.

Celeron 840 (memory at 105 FSB, CAS2)
V3 2000 at 170 MHz.

I can get over 40 by increasing the CPU and vid card speeds. I lose around 2 fps or so by going to 1024x768 with everything at max.

I can get killer speeds with a Celeron 896 and V3 190 MHz, but I can't play very long before it kicks me back to Windows.

Edit:

Oh yeah. Asus BX board. SB Live! (which is about 1 fps slower than my old SB AWE 64 Gold). Latest driver release (end of June).

I have a PIII 600E with 128 MB ram and a V3 3000 PCI card, and I get around 51 fps with UT at 800x600 with everything turned up. If I bump my fsb to 124 for 744 MHz it gets up to maybe 61 but will eventually lock up. Fast enough for decent gameplay. I haven't tried the latest drivers yet either, nor have I tried the V5 drivers which are also supposed to work even better than the latest V3 drivers.

51??!?!? Is that with UTBench? How fast is the V3 running?
