I just heard that the Voodoo 3 1000 cards have 16mb of mem but only uses 8mb. Through a registry edit you can use the full 16mb. Anybody know how to do this or can point me in the right direction. Thanks.

no the hack was to turn on the 2nd TMU. if you are running windows 2000, they drivers automatically turn it on now.

Assuming your referring to the 3dfx Velocity 100, then the hack was to enable the second TMU. The Velocity 100 does not have more then 8MB of RAM.

There was no product officially launched under the Voodoo3 1000 brand-name, there was however a Voodoo2 1000... which many confused for a V3 as it launched at the same time as the original V3 2000/3000.

I believe the Voodoo3 1000 was only for OEMs. The ones I've seen for sale and by scanning google real quick all showed 16mb, but I saw an ebay auction with 8mb, so I guess they made some really low end cards. If your card shows up as having 16mb, I'd assume it is fully using the 16mb.

the voodoo3 1000 was used in compaq systems. there was also a velocity 200 which was a 16mb velocity 100 and basically the same as the v3 1000
