voodoo2 with Duron 600 on KT7

Okay, I'm having a heck of a time getting my Duron 600 on an Abit KT7 to work with my voodoo2. Using the latest drivers, i get into windows and it then kicks me out and reboots... this will happen continuously. Using different drivers, they seem to go in correctly, but I get no voodoo2 tab in my display properties. Is there a known issue like this?

Duron 600
Abit KT7
WD 13.6 Gig 7200 rpm HD
128 Generic PC 100
Diamond TNT V550
Voodoo 2 (v2 1000)

Please help me out if you can.

It's a known bug with the latest drivers and Athlon mobos. You either need a copy of the rare DX7 betas, or hope 3dfx makes DX8 drivers. In the mean time, use the working ones, and download powerstrip.

PS What are your working drivers anyways?

Okay. I'm on Win98 SE. There are no working drivers. The latest drivers will not even let windows run... it either freezes or just autoreboots. After using the latest, it will not let me load other drivers, as I guess the latest includes some .dll files that the earlier ones do not and when I try and load earlier drivers, it looks for those other .dlls and it won't work. I can't figure out where it's referencing from. Not even the original CD drivers will have the necessary files after I try the latest ones. Off a fresh format, any drivers but the latest will go in okay, but they don't seem to register in display properties or an any games, but the voodoo is there in device manager. Again, there *are no* working drivers, just ones that don't make windows crash 🙁 what will memory hole do?

In that case, I might be able to help you. After reading about your problem last night, I went searching for an answer, and found some repacked 3.02.02 drivers someone made, that are Athlon compatible. I can't make any garuntees, since I don't have an Athlon to test it with, but considering this was listed on a VE affiliate, it most likely works. Download it at http://www.geocities.com/xcltempest/AthlonVoodoo2.zip.

Excellent! Those drivers appear to have worked! Now I just have to get a game loaded and see if it recognizes. Thanks a ton! 😀 Now I can squeeze another month or two outta my v2's.
