I have been reading that Staples is offering a $40 rebate for anything purchased over $150. Where do you get the rebate coupon from? Is there a number on the coupon that someone can list, or a place where I can get the coupon from? A Voodoo 5500 for $137.98 is to good to be true! My mouth is watering in anticipation....:p

jaytone, check in the hot deals forum under "Voodoo5 5500 $137.60" if you call Staples to order they will do an automatic price match with Onvia.com for $177 plus the $40 coupon & free shipping.

The coupon can be found at techbarg@ins.com (chane the @ to a) under the coupons link

Thanks a million for the coupon link! I called Staples this morning and they applied the coupon to my order. $137.98 for a Voodoo 5 5500 is killer!

If anyone is interested in this deal, you must call Staples and get them to pricematch Onvia's price of $177.98. For the additional $40 off you need to go to techbarg_ins.com and use the Staples coupon. Give the operator the coupon number and BANG, a Voodoo 5 5500 for $137.98 with free shipping!

Make sure you get Onvia's product # or manufacturer # before calling Staples as they will call Onvia to check the price. Luckily, I had a really nice sales lady who went to c/net shopper and found the link while I was on the phone with her at work.

Anyhow, can't wait to get back to playing Nascar 3 with smooth graphics unlike this GeForce 2 has to offer (the AA with the GeForce SUCKS!).:D

It is too good to be true. I was denied pricematching when I attempted to order this card today. I was told that due to their agreement with the supplier of this item they are unable to perform pricematching. Seems odd as others have done this and it is their policy to pricematch with other online vendors. Been thinking of trying again and hopefully getting another CSR but she did put me on hold for a couple minutes at one point so I'm wondering if she didn't confer with her supervisor on this. Any others experienced this?

LOL, the Voodoo 5 is practically a budget card now :)

I'd much rather have a V5 than a Geforce MX!

So when are they going to lower their Voodoo4s? If it went down to ~$90 I'd buy one in a flash.

Sonic, you were lied to. I called & did the PM with Buy.com and applied the $40 coupon. It even came the next day when the csr told me it was gonna take 4 or 5 days to ship from Ingram.

Hmm wtf bfg I thought you hated 3dfx and had bought a GeForce mx

Dude, you are waaaay behind. I did buy an MX but I returned it because the 2D wouldn't work properly. Since I don't know what caused it, it's pointless buying another one and finding out the same thing happens again.

If I try another video card (like a V4) and I still have that problem, then I know it must be something to do with my system.

sonicworld, you shouldn't get the same CSR twice so I would definitely call back until they give you the pricematch. As long as it's still in stock at onvia.com or buy.com they shouldn't give you much of a hassle.

For your reading pleasure...

Called Staples w/ tb coupon and onvia item#. I was told that the Staples mfr part# differed. Got notwhere with csr, so I followed edm's advice and called back. Got the same csr! :Q What are the odds of that??? Anyway, after pursuing issue with csm(anager), we resolved that csr had not correctly looked up their mfr part#. :disgust: Got the deal, applied the coupon, item shipped w/in 1 week (getting close to Xmas, I guess). Total w/ tax: $144.48 shipped.

Pays to be persistent. ;)

You can use other staples coupons and pricematching to get the v4 4500 for around $75. But, it's worth the extra dough to get the 5500 for around $140.

Excuse me people, but I just recieved mines yesterday. (kicks ass)
I paid 148. 130 something plus tax.

Make sure you get all your information ready. Make sure you get down the price, the item number(for faster searching), the product number, and the shipping rates.

Here are some secrets to calling for pricematching - Been doing it for awhile now. I'm a smart shopper, even though I don't shop often for myself. I'm not a rich man. People have been asking me to get a good deal for them now a lot lately.

1.)When you call, if the CSR dude sounds annoyed or tired, hang up and call again immediately so you don't get the same guy.
2.)Call during peak times. When they're a lot of people calling in. Don't wait longer then 10 mins.
3.)When talking, know everything, don't scramble for something or the CSR will think you're a newbie and try to talk you out of it to save himself the trouble.
4.)Try being a b!tch. Seriously, when you act like a mom or dad that will stop at nothing until you get your way, the guy might just get scared and give it to you to prevent further troubles. Works at stores too!!
5.)When all else fails, just call again.

Didn't read all the posts, so I apoligize if someone already mentioned it.
The deal is true and kicks a$$.

Hope this helps someone.

Perhaps, but last time I looked in my computer a V5 5500 wouldn't have room there. My hard drive is very close to my AGP slot and while there's plenty of room for a normal sized card, I doubt there'd be enought for the V5. And no, I don't want to move my HD.

Just get the PCI version--there's practically no difference in performance.

The Voodoo 4 doesn't really seem worth buying at all...couldn't you move your harddrive to a different bay or something?

There is a little difference, and I do prefer AGP to PCI.

No, not at the moment. That's why I'm upgrading my CPU first and waiting for a while.

Well I do have plenty of room (full ATX case) but I really can't be bothered moving it. I don't believe you should have to move internal hardware in your computer in order to fit a video card into it.

Come on BFG. A few minutes of work with a screwdriver? I wouldn't let that prevent me from getting a better card. I would have to get a V4 VERY cheap. The 5500 is worth the extra $$ by a long shot. Get one of those 3 1/2 to 5 1/4 drive brackets kits and move that sucker up a couple of bays!!
