It is truly unbelievable. Went from 299 U.S. dollars to 199 U.S. dollars on store shelves here. I should have waited awhile. Oh well.

Yea, the price drop makes the already good V5 an excellent deal.

ya.. for performance/price ratio Voodoo 550 sure is the CHOICE over that pricy GF2 GTS(Still), GF2 should drop some price too, so WE, the consumers can buy it, what do they think we are? All RICH people out here or what?...

Yeah but it'll be a better deal once the linux drivers actually support both fscking VSA-100's

I wouldn't go as far as saying the Voodoo5 5500 is "Cheap". The price now is more in line with what it should of been priced at when it was released last spring.

Nobody video card should ever be worth more than $250 to begin with.

Well, maybe according to what it's worth to you... but the market certainly is responding to the current price for the highend cards.

Like i read somewhere one time... it takes a lot to make a videocard... requires teams of engineers, a very technological fab. plant, technical support staff, driver support staff, and a lot more. Yet leather jackets, that come from the skin of a dead animal, cost the same as a videocard, and often more... do you think it takes as many designers to design a jacket as engineers to make a card? or what about a fab plant? Ever see a leather jacket that needs a support staff to deal with compatibility issues? But it's not just leather jackets, look around your house... a coffee table, a bed, desk, etc.

Not like i upgrade with every nvidia generation (about once every other), but $250 for a current generation card is definitely a steal. $400 is a bit extreme, but i guess there are different people out there.
