Voodoo 5 problems

Hi y'all.

I have a PCI V5 5500. I play 3 games regularly, Quake 3, Diablo 1 multiplayer, and NBA Live 2000. 2d works perfectly. So does Diablo and Quake3 (which looks awesome and is soooo smooth). The problems arise with Live 2000.
I got the glide patch from 3dxtreme.org, and am able to play in high res, so that's good. However, I get strange horizontal lines in the top third of the screen while playing the game and in all menus. They are narrow lines that sort of look like a waterfall; they move around constantly. They occur in both D3D and glide, at any resolution (although they are much less visible at lower res), and at any refresh rate (most visible at higher rates). It also appears at any antialiasing setting, moreso at 2x and 4x than single chip or fastest performance.
I know this isn't a power issue, I have a 300W PSU. Also, I've tried disconnecting everything not required for gameplay, ie I have just one hard drive and cd drive drawing power in addition to the vid card.
Is this just a problem with the games being older than the card and thus lacking total driver support?
BTW, I've tried all drivers, except for the original ones on the cd, which I don't have. Currently I'm using the omega optimized ones.

Any ideas?

check your bios settings and maybe a update.

turn off the refresh optimization in the 3dfx tools (general).

what do ya think of the omega drivers? I never tried them

Omega drivers work well. They seem to be slightly faster and smoother than any 3dfx official/beta that I've tried. They're also 100% stable so far, and have no problems besides this one.

I'll try your suggestions.

Any other input?

I'll try that when I go back home too, but I doubt it'll work. If it was a problem with the monitor, I'd imagine that I'd have problems in 2d or other games as well.

Thanks for your help thus far.

its definately not the monitor, and the refresh optimization changed nothing either.

Any other ideas? I think I might just give up and wait until Live 2001 comes out. I'll then know if somethings wrong with my card since the game will fully support the card.

Check your settings in NBA 2000. Under video, make sure to disable triple buffering. Good luck.

Tried all the settings. This is frustrating. I saw a post about geforces having this problem. Apparently its called RF interference, and they're working on fixing it. It may be caused by any or all of the following...

1.speaker/subwoofer too close to monitor
2.video card not shielded correctly
3.case, processor or video card fans not set up correctly
4.monitor not shielded correctly

and a few more. Hopefully they can figure it out.

Nothing I have is overclocked. I've tried different slots. I'll try underclocking it to find out if the card is defective for sure.
I was looking around the forums, and some people had problems similar to mine. A reply asked if those people were using an external zip hooked up to an adaptec scsi card, but didn't state why this might be a problem. I have this configuration in my pc, the adaptec and an external zip. Could the zip be causing problems with interference? I'll try turning its power off or removing the adaptec tonight.

Thanks for all the ideas, happygamer.
