My system,

7ix giga-byte mb w/athlon chipset
athlon 500
voodoo 5500 agp video
dlink network card
56k modem
27.2 gig wd hd
160mb ram
300w ps

Now my problem

System keeps crashing, won't run stable. Says I'm running out of memory or there are various kernel vaults. Can barely log on to internet to post this.

Please help

Yes, fresh install. Also, tried to use 3dfx tech support. Almost no help at all. By the way, do you know of a program that would show me what my agp slot settings are (bus speed, 1x or 2x, ect.). It seems my mb settings are all automatic, at least bios has no settings except agp apeture.

Thanks

Did you install the AMD AGP patch? I think they're up to 4.61

CPU id will tell you at what speed you're running your AGP. Try running DX diag. If it crashes (which it probably will the first time), reboot and run it again. This time, it should say it had a problem with DDraw, do you want to skip DDraw tests etc.... Skip DDraw tests. Under the Display tab, disable AGP. See if your system is stable.

What PS are you using? Antec? Is it approved for K7? How about the memory? In your bios, underclock your FSB settings. Try 90Mhz and see if you have stability.

If so than it could be memory.
