Just got this in the mail today. Have to find the most recent drivers and install it into one of my older computers! I had one of these years ago, but got rid of it, finally got another one.

Woohoo, two fans! Gotta keep such a cutting edge chip cool. How else will you get the latest effects like depth of field and soft shadows? :awe:

Well I just had to have it because it came with the box and all the contents which is quite hard to find I'm sure.

I had a Voodoo 3 2000 around that time, the V5 5500 was a nice card but it lacked in many areas compared to the Geforce series. Course its no surprise Nvidia steamrolled them sooner rather than later. The only feature I did find interesting was its FSAA, which at that time was amazing [with the exception of its ~50% fps cut]..

My first gaming video card was a Canopus Pure 3d 6megs.

At the time I think it was the only 6 meg gaming card at the time. Man was I sooooo happy for that extra two megs.....6 whole megs for gaming pleasure!!! :D

Oh I if I had that card I would be playing Red Baron 3d again. Red Baron 3d performed well on 3dfx cards. I miss that game:(

I still have the PCI version of it, it's nice to be able to use in literally any computer

That was Canopus' claim to fame. Sure convinced me to buy the Pure3D II and Spectra 2500. Sorta my first SLi setup :p

The most recent driver requires a DeLorean to retrieve. Seriousry though, couldn't virtually any viddy card from the last decade outclass it in both performance and image quality even for olde timey proprietary API games using a wrapper?

Hah, I had that exact card! Played Quake3 and Shogo pretty darn well IIRC. :D

15 years later from this day, if this forum still exists... i will make a thread titled "ASUS AMD Radeon 7850" and look at the people aww at their memories as i take them on a journey to 2012 where everyone played COD and LoL and AMD CPUs still sucked...

Still had much better colors on screen than the GeForce. Anyone else still find NVidia cards to wash out colors? AMD still has better screen color warmth. I don't get how that can be, but it is.

I bought the PCI model at Circuit City to stick in my HP Celeron box. First computer upgrade/build I ever did. Think it cost me $200 at the time? It just barely fit in the HP mini-tower.

Two strengths of that product was the quality of the rotated grid AA when compared to ordered grid -- also, with 16-bit color, there wasn't FSAA color banding.
