Unfortunately one of the fans has died, on boot up, it will work for about 30secs and then stop........causing the chip to get extremely hot........I
i have a spare P1 heatsink/fan...any way i could rig this to replace the broken one?.......Its a backup PC used for UT .......this one at college...that one at home.
would be bad for such a nice card to go to waste....
any help appreciated

thanks

Do the P1 fans fit? I think there are still aftermarket HSF's for the V5500.

Any way be sure to use thermal compound. I don't see how it wouldn't work it if fits.

the fan is the same diameter, and would fit, its just the screws are too narrow to secure it to the heatsink and the ones from the voodoo arent long enought to go through the P1 fan

I'm gonna get a Voodoo5 5500 PCI and I'll benchmarks it. Love the stuff.

I will do 3DMARK2000,2001SE,03. anything below 2000 wont work, i've tried it.

I wish there was somewhere in Australia to get a V5 5500 PCI card. I have a lot of glide games, and I currently have a V1 working in tandem with a Ti4600 which is slow even for glide.

Fi ran 3dmark 2000, (This is on Athlon 1.3GHz, 256MB SDR-SDRAM(PC100), win XP) i got around 4700 marks. Running UT in glide...does great, ran in 1024*768*16 no less than 60FPS as high as 140(which it maintained very well) average was around 90. I was on dial up at the time and couldnt run 3dmark2001SE unfortunately

I sold my old Voodoo3 3000 card for $15 a few weeks ago. You should be able to find a similar card for sale used. It will blow away the V1.
