This may be a dumb question, but I have a voodoo 3000 with the last drivers 3dfx produced. If I'm running a game that runs in 640 * 480 the left side of the screen has a two inch space that's empty black. The games in question are older strategy rpgs that will only run in that resolution so I can't just change it. 800 * 600 works just fine in games that support it, however counterstrike the opening sequences does the same thing. For that matter any game using a cut scene will do the same, more then a little annoying. Also, completly different topic, but my current setup I'm stuck with a pci for my video card, is there a better option now that 3dfx won't be around to support this one?

set your desktop in every resolution, then use you monitor controls to make the black spots go away. worked for me, i use to have starcraft get cropped, my desktop is 1024x768, so i went into 640x480, made it look right, and sc is good now!

If your refresh rate and resolution changes to one that you monitor has not been adjusted for, you will get those type of results. Adjust you monitor width, or change refresh rate, and it should correct it.

I too am having problems with my V3 3k.
All boxes for minimize, maximize and close turn into black boxes after hours of 2d desktop or web browsing use. This is occuring with newest drivers, as well as past few releases, but will NEVER occur if I use original drivers that came with the card. That should eliminate heat as the cause. This happened when the card was in my PC, and now it is occuring in the other machine I installed the card into, so it's not the machines.

When I used the card, I always ended up going back to original shipping drivers to correct all the bugs that were in newer releases, but I thought the latest newer versions, were "finally" fixed? Guess not. If someone has a solution, please let me know. I'd hate to have to wait for the next 3dfx driver release ;) There is also a couple other bugs in this release, but this one is the most serious, as it requires a reboot to correct.

WinME (does it with Win'98 too).
DX7.x
No overclocking ever on video card, except 75Mhz bus?
