Voodoo 3 software bundle question

I recently got some software that came with a Voodoo 3. One of the CDs has "Unreal Tournament" plastered all over it, but the CD installs the plain ol' Unreal. Is this normal? I thought I was getting UT. Is there an upgrade or patch to make this OEM version into a standard UT?

My friend bought a V3 3000 when it first came out with a disk that said Unreal Tournament. That was pretty much BS because it installed Unreal just like yours. Buyers originally thought that Tournament would be sent to V3 3000 buyers when it came out. I don't know anyone who cashed in on that promise.

Hmmm. Mine came with Unreal. It said Unreal on the CD, not UT. It came with a mail in coupon for UT. I sent it in and did get it (both CD's). I also sent in the mail in rebate for $30 and got that too.

I got a slip that said something basically like "Sorry, we put a UT pic on the disc even though it's really just unreal"

UT wasn't even out yet when the V3 came out, so they gave the slip for a free copy. And I did get mine as they promised, so it was a damn good deal.

Yeah, my CD had UT on it, but it just installed Unreal. The push back on UT was forever too. I remember I got my V3 around April 1999, and it had the free copy of UT form, so of course I filled it out and mailed it in.

I finally got my free UT maile to me around the end of January 2000 - about one month after purchased the retail version. . . go figure. . . 🙂
