Voodoo 3 PCI as second display card???

System > BE6-2, P3-800, 384Meg Ram, GF-2 GTS Primary display, V3-3000 PCI secondary... GF2 installed fine, put in the V3-3k, Win ME loaded the drivers(I grabbed the latest 1.05... drivers), and rebooted... I could see the secondary display initialize, and Blue screen with 'Windows protection error, windows needs to reboot system', reboot, and repeat...

I didn't have problem with mine as secondary. You might try setting the PCI card to be the primary boot up card in bois to see if that fixes the problem. I am running win2k though....

the most likely problem here is the Voodoo 3 and GTS sharing an IRQ. normally the top PCI slot and AGP slot are shared.. try the Voodoo 3 somewhere else!

however, I used to have my Voodoo Banshee running in the PCI slot that was shared (my monitor died though), and it was just fine. I took it out for some reason (I don't remember), and when I tried putting it in again, no matter what I would do, it would give me a BSOD.

it's likely that I can get it working again with a fresh install of windows, so this is my advice reinstall WINDOWS.

Well, I don't have the money to get a Geforce, but I do have a TNT2 Ultra as the primary and voodoo3 3k as secondary. I had trouble installing these under win98 using nvidia 5.2x, 5.3x drivers. Now updated to 6.xx, it works well. My experience is that the nvidia drivers is usually the problem. Try different driver, and see what happens. Or like mikepeck suggested try voodoo3 as the primary, because ususally the primary card is the one that cause the installation problem...., but I know you wouldn't wanna use the less powerful card for primay display.

Anyway, try this site for mulit-monitor info:

My voodoo 3 pci is only the primary for bootup under bois... once win2k starts, my AGP card is the primary while in windows. Does win98/me not have this option to set the primary card?
