Voodoo 3 3k causing blue screen in XP?

After experiencing an increased incidence of freeze-ups, primarily when using Outlook 2k under Win 98SE, I decided to move in to the new millennium, take advantage of many of the current deals around, and install a new HDD with a clean install of XP Pro. Sure enough, as soon as I started setting up Outlook 2k, everything froze up, XP started creating a blue screen, and re-started instead. Upon reboot, it is sending reports to Microsoft that the video card is likely the culprit.

As XP seemed happy with the default drivers it selected, I tried the "underground" beta version found at www.voodoofiles.com/6847, and made sure that all of the video-related bios settings are set to the default / disabled position, as recommended.

Any other suggestions, short of buying a new video card?

Well, 3dfx went out of business before XP was developed, so all you have are a bunch (and I do mean a bunch) of different hacked together unoffical drivers. Try a different one, but I would recommend not using XP with a Voodoo 3. Either change back to 98, or get a different video card. I have an older system with ME and a Voodoo 3 3000, and it's reasonably stable.
