I have the Voodoo 3 3000, 3 3500, and the 5 5500 in 3 seperate systems and I have never had to reinstall the drivers on any of them unless there was a compatibility issue with the OS and the version of the driver. Make sure you have downloaded the latest drivers for your OS and the latest DirectX.

Well, I have one on my machine at home(I'm at college now muhahaha :) ).

I have had some issues with the latest drivers, v1.05 I think?
Such as problems w/ the OpenGL and such. Sometimes the 3D Flying Objects screen saver would crash(no kidding :)) after I got those drivers and Half-Life would crash every once in awhile, usually restarting windows in monochrome w/ a display adapter error, so I'd re-install the drivers. I would of re-installed the v1.04 drivers but I wasn't too sure about that since the new ones had a new installation routine and I wasn't sure if it would remove all of the old drivers if I uninstalled and re-installed new drivers, so I just changed my screensaver and I have my Tbird 900 w/ GeForce 2 system at college now and seeing as my family doesn't play Half-Life(hehe at least I don't think they do...:p) I just left it as is.

Any of those problems sound familiar to yours? Be a little more specific if you can.
I think the latest drivers changed too much and they didn't clean up the drivers because OpenGL support in the latest ones seemed even more flaky than previous releases. But that's just my experience with them, I could be wrong. What kind of system are you running? What kind of error messages are you getting?
