Anyone running this combo, and if so, your opinions?? I realize that the voodoo is the bottleneck (but I have it already), but I'm waiting for the geforce 3's to drop less than the $550-$600 range (Canadian) they're in now...

if you want it to be less of a bottleneck, you could try removing the heatsink and putting on a blorb and overclocking it...

It wwill work fine. I have a Athlon 1.4 and a V3 and it works great for me. I do play Diablo most of the time (like 98%) and older glide games. If you are into the newer FPS it will do well till you can get a new one.

I'm planning to run this combo until I feel like paying the money for a newer video card. I have a v3 2000 pci from way back when (in computer years), though. I'd like to throw it in a system with the ecs sis735 board and 256 mb of ddr-2100.

I was planning to post on the same exact topic, so I'll just bump this up and ask for opinions. Is this a decent idea? Will dvd's run ok just through the processor (they better at 1.4 ghz)?

DVDs run fine on my Celeron 850 and Voodoo3 2000 so I would say you should have no problem with a 1.4 Athlon
