I'm using 2 Voodoo2 cards in SLI for my 3d. I'm wondering if I should change for a Geforce2 MX...I mean does the change worth the money? What kind of performance boost I should expect? Just 4 or 5 FPS or more something like 20 FPS.

I'm using :
Celeron 500
Abit-BH6
192mbs 100mhz SDRAM

You'd definitely get a big boost. I *think* I'm right in saying that a Voodoo 3 supasses the speed of a Voodoo 2 SLI, and the Geforce 2 MX is quite a lot faster than a Voodoo 3. What sort of frame rates are you getting at the moment? Have you benchmarked your system using some games or apps such as 3Dmark 2000?

I agree, the dual voodoo's are about the same as the voodoo 3000. The other problem with the 2 voodoo's is that you are limited to 1024x768 max game resolution with 16 bit color only. I just bought a 64mb radeon to replace my dual voodoo's, they were the only relic left in my computer. Live in the now man!!

personally i don't see the need myself. i'm happy with my voodoo3, most games don't take advantage of the hardware as it is. not to mention i have no agp, but thats what i get for buying a dell :disgust:

The voodoo 3000 is a nice card, but not supporting 32 bit color kinda stinks, but if you can live with that then it will do fine until around Dec or Jan when another generation of cards is going to be released (so they say).

Ditto with Toph in terms of the Voodoo 3 being a good card for now, but SLI Voodoo2's are just a bit past it in terms of resolution supported and image-quality. Not to mention taking up 2 PCI slots (plus an additional slot for the 2d card..)

Salut Le Québécois. I believe the Voodoo 3 2000 was better than a Voodoo 2 SLI. I now have a GeForce II MX, and it is extremely fast for the price. Never has there been performance at such a bargain price. A GeForce II MX whips a lot of good, expensive cards' asses, and if you look at any benchmarks on the WEB, you will see for yourself. You simply cannot go wrong with the MX card. It's absolutely great.
