So, I have a Voodoo2 I acquired after doing an upgrade for someone. Can this thing be used as a PCI video card? What's the point of the SLI cable that goes from the out port to the in port on the same card? There is nothing physically connecting it to the AGP video card, so how does it help anything?

The Voodoo 2's are 3D only cards, meaning you must also have a video card in the machine that supports 2D. The Voodoo only kicks in when you run games. There should be a VGA pass thru cable that runs from the 2D card to the Voodoo.. then you run your monitor off the other port on the Voodoo.

The SLI port allows you to add another Voodoo2 for extra performance, but again you still will need a AGP card that supports 2D.

the Voodoo 2 would really only be "practical" if you have a few Glide titles you want to fire up and play for some gold ol' memories, or try them out if you haven't yet done so.

two PCI voodoo2s can be connected via that SLI cable to increase performance, but both are dependent on the 2d card, which can be agp or pci. the voodoo2s are 3d only

.

That's what I assumed, but these ppl had the SLI cable running between the two ports on the Voodoo2, and the ATI Rage that they had was the only thing hooked up to the monitor. It makes far more sense to me if the pass through cable thing would be connected between the Rage and the Voodoo2, then the monitor to the VD2. No wonder they got poor performance. :)
