Voodoo 2 + Doom 3 = ScreenShots inside

I'm impressed they got it to work with some what acceptable framerates...but WTF happened to the lighting? And those textures look like total ass.

No lighting support and 256x256 texture limit. 😛

Wow, hilarious. Impressive that it works and runs at >60fps! Obvious that it looks exactly like Quake 2 (although I like the visibility a bit better than default gamma 😉 ).

might pull mine out and blow the dust off them 🙂

Thats awesome, i couldn't get it running playable on a 64-bit fx5200 and a slightly better rig, might have 2 give the voodoos a shot...

It looks so much like Quake 2 and Half Life 2 (based on the Q1/Q2 engine). Very funny.

Also totally kills the whole point of the game. I don't think you're going to be too scared when that insanely bright door opens to reveal an imp. Or when you peer down a tunnel only to see the bright glowing red eyes of an imp... as well as the rest of his orangish brown body.

Nothing screams Q2 like that orangish metal in the early part of the game, and the rest looks like a HL1 mod.

That's what I was thinking. I've been playing a bit of HL1, since it came with the HL2 Silver package on Steam. It looks almost just like that.

Wow. Those shots bring back memories of a simpler time like Q2 and HL.

/gets ready to buy HL2 at 8am@Fry's.

There were some workaround drivers posted by Creative, late in the life of the V2, that allowed emulation of 2K x 2K texture-map sizes, because some games simply wouldn't init properly without that support.

I'll stick with my present videocard. It's just like having 46 Voodoo2s in SLI mode plus better I.Q.😉

At 46 times the cost. 😉

Nice find! I wonder how my Vooodoo5 5500 AGP would do, with the modifications that were done to D3 applied.
