Vonage VoIP over VPN ??

Can I access my home network via VPN.. and spoof linksys vonage adapter MAC address.. and shut off the vonage adapater at home( to prevent conflicting).. then use my laptop at the remote end as the vonage adapter to make phone calls directly from the laptop?

just an idea.
