Vonage Phone service?

Does anyone here use that new Vonage phone service or know anything about it? I know it's basically voice over IP but how does it sound? Any delay? All the usual questions. One important question I have is that my internet router and phone block are in the basement with my house wired in each room for both. Any issues with hooking up several phones? Or would I need to plug the Cisco Vo/IP router into a port in one of the rooms then plug the phone into that? I will call them but I wanted the straight story from the experts at ATOT.

Thanks all!

Just get yourself a multi headset cordless phone.
I dont notice any lag or delay in transmission of voice even during gaming and full download.

I get 3mb down/384k up

Oh yea if you need a referal 😉 PM me

I called Vonage and they told me that I can plug a phone line into the Cisco then tie the wires into my phone block for the house. Any hidden fees? Taxes about the same? OH! Do you have to dial 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx for every number too? The best feature I see is the call transfer to a different phone number. Verizon won't let me do this unless I get 2 business lines at an outrageous price.

Check this out. I don't use it (got nobody to call), it's made by the fine folks that brought you Kazaa but there's no spyware (yet), firewall and router friendly (supposedly), and it's free (for now).

If this is for business purposes please disregard.

Yea i think you can do that but I didn't do it that way.

I just have it plugged into the router and have a splitter going out of the VoIP router with 2 phones connected to it.

It's been working great so far without any issues.

Yes you have to press 1 before you dial the area code and the number.
