Vonage and 768/3mb DSL

I'm starting a bidness and thinking about getting Vonage for the office... anyone have this and the DSL speed of 768/3mb? Does it work very well?

*admin, please move if in wrong forum*

I had Vonage for four weeks. Their router was faulty and kept dropping internet packets. After 3 weeks of fighting with customer support, I returned the router and went back to baby bell.

Beware their Customer Service - it is one of the worst I have experienced.

To answer the question of it working with DSL yes, vonage is only using a 64K tunnel for voice. So they doesn't even come close to eating up your bandwidth. Voice sends very little data. As far as the reliability of Vonage, I have NO idea. I have heard friends who LOVE it and I have heard people like flappy who hate it. *shrugs* Guess you just have to try, but then again it isn't the only VoiP company. AT&T has one as well.

One thing also to keep in mind. If you do heavy downloads and/or uploads you will cause your VOIP to drop packets. The solution is to do QoS and give priority to VOIP stuff. You can do this pretty well with linksys wrt54g or gs with 3rd party firmware (since linksys released the source code for it) or I think the latest linksys firmware actually took some of the 3rd party code and put it back into the router for a limited QoS. (in other words, the 3rd party stuff is much better)
