I relocated my office from the 4th floor (townhouse) to the basement. I am using Verizon FIOS and their HUGE router all the way upstairs wired into the wall with CAT-5.
I've been using my laptop with an Intel wireless for about 6 months and works fine. I haven't used the PC since I moved-in. Now, however, I am going to get this beast up and running, but just thought of a hitch.
Currently, the Vonage PAP is plugged into the router (top floor) and connected to my Uniden base station. I bought a wireless card for the PC and it has aboout a 55% signal, so I was thinking I could get a boost by relocating the FIOS router to the garage where the Verizon unit is mounted. But I would have to keep my base station in the garage plugged into the router.
I was thinking--could I plug the Vonage PAP into the NIC card in my PC, even if the PC is now connected to the Internet via. the wireless card? I was thinking the PAP needs an IP, so not sure how this would work...
Does any of this make sense? 🙂
