Just saw a commercial for this.

Lady walking to her car in a dark parking lot.
Announcer: "The new Volvo ... with heart beat detector identifies when there are intruders in your car. " or something like that
Lady looks at her key fob w/ flashing lights. Runs away scared.

Wow.

I saw that. How ridiculous. Most of the time the person hides near your car and grabs you once you open the door. They don't hide inside the car. But this might save 1 life per year. Maybe they should have this technology on buses and daycare vans. Then they'd stop leaving the children on the buses in 100 degree weather and crap like that.

Are we getting extra discount from auto insurance quote? A safety option that saves life (HUGE YMMV) and prevents $100,000 insurance claim....

life signs proximity detector would be much better, radius of 10' from car.....

in case a cougar, or a mountain lion is stalking your car too, it would have a little kitty icon flash on your remote :)

I suppose this will save people from times when you're driving and someone pops up from the backseat, like in the movies.

I think the new LS from Lexus has a camera that watches your face. If you turn your head away for more than a second or two some lights and buzzers inside the car go off until you look forward again.

Great just what I need, more pest features.

Just like how my current car buzzes and beeps at me when I don't have my seatbelt buckled.

Maybe it should also buzz and beep when it detects I have only one hand on the steering wheel.

Exactly. What does this new feature say about their vehicle's lock and alarm systems?

Think about it in reverse, now you can safely lock your baby in the car on a hot summer day and if the light on the remote stops flashing you know they died. :)

Wow, what a useless technology for a car.

But if they can expand the range, would be great for the military.
