Went out with some friends for a movie night and no one else wanted to see 300 so we settled on Volver - I didn't know much about it other than being a fan of the director's "Bad Education".

The movie really had quite a bit of everything - it was funny, dark, sweet, and thought provoking. Penelope Cruz was charming and looked beautiful and everything about the production was pretty much flawless.

91% on Rotten Tom.

I must add, WHAT IS UP WITH ALL THESE BRILLIANT SPANISH DIRECTORS?

-Children of Men = awesome
-Pan's Labyrinth = awesome
- Babel = Pretty a-ok
- Volver -Brilliant

So many great movies coming from spanish directors latley.. Interesting!

You should! Sorry for not posting much of the plot, it's one of those movies that would get ruined if you read too much about it before going into the theater.

Oh, they've been good but they're making home runs this year. Actually have been a bigger fan of french and asian cimema, now spanish movies are rocking too.
