Volunteer opportunities

I just graduated college and won't working for another 3 weeks or so..and am looking to do something besides sit at home all day watching TV/DVDs. I decided then to maybe do something that can be fulfilling and volunteer my time toward a worthy cause, but have no idea what I can do. Any suggestions? I'll be willing to go maybe 3-4 days a week for a few hours at a time.

Look in your local paper, or google for volunteer work. There's plenty out there to do. I work with AIDS Interfaith Network in my spare time. 🙂

Habitat for Humanity possibly. Learn some good construction skills and help build affordable housing in the process. (I worked for an affiliate in SF this past year for 10 months prior to college)

If not that, local food back or other general poverty charities make a large impact on the lives of the poor.

Habitat is usually also a very social activity, they provide all the tools, you show up and get some fresh air while helping low income working families.
Finding your local affiliate's website is the first step and it should have all the info you need. If it doesn't, it isn't an affiliate worth spending time at.
