Volume level of MP3 players?

I've been thinking about finally getting a MP3 player to use to during workouts/running/etc. However, I am conerned about the volume level of the player.

Here's the one I am looking at getting (may also get the 128mb version).

iRiver MP3 player @ NE

Generally, how loud is the max volume level of these things? Would the noise of a loud gym or TV drowned out the sound of the player?

well for workout you're most likely to be using earbuds or small headphones. the ones i have are very loud when you set it to max. (i have the muvo nx) But if theyre are large headphones with better bass response theyre usually not as loud as the other headphones.

earbuds should do the job well
