Is it possible to set all the boxes on the workgroup to have volume on (not muted) at 50% as a default?

Of course you'd have to be an admin, but how?

Can the volume be either locked, or reset after each login?

what do you mean? I'm looking a way to either set a default volume, or lock the volumes in an 50% position.

I do not believe it is possible. If it is, as was stated above it is most likely a Group Policy setting.

Start -> Run, type gpedit.msc to bring up the Group Policy editor. Careful what you do in here though if you're not familiar with the tool.

I've never heard of the ability to do this either. There's a way to have volume disabled but I don't know if there's a way to set it to a default volume level. Although I'm sure someone out there probably figured out a reg command that might make this possible.
