Voltage

Have searched but those topics were more around 1.62 or higher. In order to keep completely stable in stress tests at 2.7ghz, my Venice 3000+ needs 1.6v. Is this safe for a long period of time? And by long period of time I mean like 2-3 years. Of course that is if I don't upgrade the CPU in the next 1 - 1 1/2 years. Just don't want to lose this thing early. Temps seem nice as my room is generally cool when ac is on, and well, Chicago winters. 🙂 I also run Cool N' Quiet so that helps keeps things low. Should I lower my clock speed and voltage or do you think this is OK?

Typically a 10-15% overvolt is safe, just keep an eye on temps. I believe AMD and Intel allow for a 10% voltage fluctuation in each direction to account for differences in motherboards when rating the processors.

I am running 1.6v now on my Winchester, its fine i think 😛 .. but it always fluctuates on this board to a max of 1.61 with an idle of 41c and a max of 52c .. i dont give a sh!t tho if it dies whereas i think you will .. i think 1.6 will be fine for your chip but you will have to make sure that you have good cooling, by making sure that you do not regularly exceed 60 degrees..

hope this kinda helps
