Voltage too low for running memtest w/2x1024 sticks?

Hi,

I tested each dimm previously one at a time for 9+ hrs first run, then lowered voltage down a bit and ran the 2nd dimm in slot 0 for 24hrs with zero failures. I don't think I ran dimm 0 again for that long... but I put both back in (slot 2 is now in slot 0 and vice versa for original install) and ran memtest overnight the other night and yesterday morning I had failures. I couldn't tell which dimm (is it possible?) was failing but I'm running Crucial Ballistix PC6400 at 378mhz and CPU at 3.4Ghz (E8400). Should I bump it up to 2.0 or back to 2.1 which is what it's rated at and try again? This system has been a royal pain the past couple of weeks with no clear problem determined yet.

I disconnected one of the raid drives to let system sit for a couple days doing nothing to see if it would crash with one of the drive but then decided on re-testing both sticks at the same time. I hit a stop 0x50 on last panic. Anything to look for with that?

I want to get my system back up and running and am considering getting new memory (maybe go with 2x2048 sticks this time since it's so cheap now) and a different vendor (gskill, ocz, corsair perhaps).

The Crucial Ballistix have a bad reputation for burning out due to their high recommended voltage. If you're running them below the 2.1V you need to make sure you've loosened the timings (CAS, etc).

But upgrading to a new pair of sticks would also fix your problems. I recommend G.Skill, Mushkin, Kingston and Corsair but avoid OCZ (compatibility problems with various motherboards).
