I can't lower or raise the upper perfstate voltage, Bummer :(

They set a high 1.22v and I was hoping to dial in something a little more reasonable during summertime(and also for bitcoin temps/watts). It won't let me lower the voltage unless I clock the gpu at 501MHz or lower. The bios is at fault here :(

Anyone seen modified bios or soldering magic done to unlock the voltage on these ?

This is the card you got? http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/06/19/gigabyte_radeon_hd_7870_oc_video_card_review/3

Looks like it works with Afterburner. Just tested my HIS 7870 and Afterburner drops my voltage to what I selected. You did enable unlock voltage control and monitoring in settings?

Yes, it looks like they've started locking them now :(
My bios version is newer than that review sample.
Now after purchasing it i'm seeing others on google searchs with the same issue.

Bios:
PartNumber xxx-xxx-xxx
Version 015.021.000.008.000000
Date 11/14/12 05:26

Version 015.015 is apparently the one that allows changing the voltage.

He would have to make sure they are the same exact PCB.

Plus I don't own windows, so I can't use their flashing utility :(

edit: some people are claiming to have created bootable dos thumb drives with atiflash ... Still the risk seems too high
