If you're not familiar with Volition, they're responsible for the original Descent, Freespace, Red faction, and Saint's Row games.

Looks like their parent company was on the ropes and Volition was a casualty of some restructuring.

The lackluster reception of the most recent Saint's Row likely didn't help things much either.

Damn shame... I can dream of Freespace getting a proper 3rd installment but more than likely it will be another rights hell situation.

It didn't help that the writing sounded like what a 50 year old thinks a teenager would want to hear coming from "the cool guy". I saw some clips from a friend of mine who is a massive SR fan and the dialogue was beyond cringey, even for a SR game.
