Hi all.
My volcano9 was ticking along quite fine, using the thermal sensor mounted under the cpu.
A couple of weeks ago I did a fsb/wire trick mod and turned my xp2100+ into a xp2600+, Even under stress the cpu temp was usually max of 120f and the Volcano would be spinning about 5000 rpm.
Last night, while playing a game, the Volcano suddenly dropped a few thousand rpm and the cpu temp went up. (2400 rpm, 129f)
Did I cook the sensor ?? It's mounted with a little heat sink compound to the bottom of the cpu.
Im running the fan on full speed now with a jumper on the red wire set (5000 rpm). Might not be worth the trouble finding another sensor and removing the cpu etc.
But Im curious if anyone else has had this happen ?
Thanks..
