I'm thinking about ordering one of these, but friends say the clip is too flimsy for the heavy heat sink and the heatsink may pull away from the CPU die if the motherboard is vertical.. Anyone heard this? Any other things about the Thermaltake Volcano7 (Not the 7+)

Very happy with mine, but I did replace the stock fan with a quiet smart fan from Antec. CompUSA and Best Buy has them for $15 if you are interested. I think I have about $38 in the HS and I am not planning to make any more changes.

As far as the clip... it could be stronger but it works just fine. No problems at all. I would suggest that the HS be removed if you are planning to ship or transport the PC as it is pretty heavy.

Cools my XP1700 just fine. MOHAA will push it to 49-50C but under normal use it stays in the low to mid-40's.

I've used it on one of the systems I build & did not notice any problems with it either.

I didn't have any problems. I just recently upgraded to a MCX462-U though and it is running cooler. The blue does look good but it might cool better if it wasn't anodized IMHO.

Works great, but be careful when taking it off. it's extremely easy to chip the core (damn things so large)
