I recently purchase an XP2000 with a MSI KT4V motherboard and a Volcano 9

at CPU Idle the temperature is 59-65deg and during games it is 70-72deg the fan is running at full speed and I also put on the thermal paste

is this still ok? just that i read 46degrees is a good temperature, i dont understand why mine is so "hot"

what core is your XP2000? mine is tbred B xp1800+ overclocked to xp2200+... currently using Volcano 9@4000RPM fan... temps sits on 39-40 at idle ang 43-44 at full 1hour of prime95....

btw, how did you get ur temps? im using MBM 5.2.2.0

its an XP2000 chip its running around 1.7ghz i got no idea why this is running so hot

its says the temperature in my motherboard (MSI) software, is this a false reading perhaps? im talking about CPU temperature not system temp

yes, i was talking about my CPU temp, not my case temp... and this is my CPU temp now... what cpu r u using... if its a tbred, im sure dats not normal... if its a palomino, then i guess its quite normal coz palomino are known to get soo hot... my palomino 1800 before has temps at 44-46 at idle, 55-56 at load... so i bought a new tbred cpu and thats how my temps decreased.. try to download WCPUID coz it will tell you what cpu you are using....

it says AMD Athlon XP (Model 6) at 1691mhz

Name STring: AMD ATHLON(TM)XP 2000+

it got up to 72deg during UT2003 its now 62deg :|

Don't you need to control for different temp sensors on diff motherboards?

Fine, he's getting higher than one of you, but you're not on the same board and, as was pointed out, ambient room/case temps, factor-in, too.
