Hi, I'm not totally sure what heatsink/fan combo to use. It's going to go on an XP 1900+. Right now, I have Volcano 6 Cu because that's what they recommended at Fry's and I didn't have much time. Since then, I heard some people say it's not the best. I got it for $12.99. The other one I was thinking about was the Dragon Orb 1 or 3. The Orb 1 is $16.99 and the Orb 3 is $19.99. I've heard that the Orb 3 is pretty good but noisy. Noise isn't a huge concern, but I don't want a generator running in my room. I might do a little overclocking in the future, so I need it to keep the cpu pretty cool. There will be pretty good air flow because I'm getting an Antec SX830, probably with a couple more case fans in the near future. What do you guys think? They are the lower rpm versions of both (not the 7000rpm version). Would you guys recommend something else? I'm just thinking that it would be good to get it at Fry's since I don't have to pay shipping or anything like that. So if you know of a good one at fry's, please let me know, or if you have an opinion of
any of the ones I've talked about, I'd love to hear it!

**EDIT** Sorry, I have another question. I know the Volcano 6 Cu comes with a black thermal pad. If I keep that one, or get another hs/f combo with the pad, would you guys recommend keeping the pad or taking it off and using arctic silver?**EDIT**

Thanks!

Are you going to be overclocking? If not, the Volcano 6 is certainly sufficient. You should look at the dinky HSFs that come with retail boxed 1900+ CPUs. If AMD knows that is sufficient for the 1900+, then the Volcano 6 surely is. Beware of people saying what is and isn't "TheBest(TM)." The Alpha 8045 may be TheBest(TM) for someone overclocking (or wanting quietness) and has $40 to spend. The Silverado Noise Control may be TheBest(TM) for someone wanting near silence and also has much money to spend. I'd say that the Volcano 6 _may_ be TheBest(TM) for someone not looking into overclocking and who just wants an inexpensive HSF that is easy to obtain at their local Fry's. :)

Personaly I would stay away from anything Thermaltake....

Here are a few HS/F's I'd recomend, just do a search on Newegg.

ARKUA TECHNOLOGY 7528: A good HS/F for $22.

ALPHA PAL8045T: One of the best HS/F's you can buy for either pure cooling performance or ultra silence, better then the Silverado Noise Control BTW.

Thermalright AX-7: Right up there with the Alpha + it sells for less.

I second that...

orb3 is inneffective...only good for eye candy

Since you have a 1900+, i reccomend an alpha, ax-7, or golden gate
