VOIP?

well I just moved and at my new location my cell coverage is shakey at best. I already have cable internet. I was thinking about some of the new internet based phone services to suplement my cell phone when its having a bad day anyone have any recomendations? I'll mainly be using it to call home a couple time a week.

vonage $29.99 activation fee + 1.50$ tax?, free phone adaptor rental

14 days to return fone after cancellation or they bill u like 70 bucks

packet8 has unlimited for 20$/month (not sure on their activation + fone rental/ monthly fees though)

"initiation fees, activation fees, monthly service fees, equipment charges, toll charges and any other applicable charges"

I have a small business line through vonage and it has been good so far. Plus its portable and I get a free fax line and can check voicemail online.

1) Quality is not as good as a analog [yet]
2) You are SOLO when the power goes out.
3) Reliability is still touchy....for consumers anyways. Commerical is awesome.
4) Cheap.

Good Luck! We use them at work, and they rock.

2) You are SOLO when the power goes out.

So are 90%+ of the people who use analog phones. I don't know a single person who doesn't use a cordless phone which also goes out when the power does.
