VoIP and ordering pizza

So I just ordered pizza from a local pizza shop. I asked for delivery and gave her my phone number. She asked if this was a legitimate number and I said yes. She asked why it doesnt come up with an address and I said it's not your traditional phone service. She then questioned me and was reluctant to take the order. I hung up and called another place. Gosh, I hate ppl with no customer service skills. I was nice and had a friendly tone and she had this ignorant tone. Sounded like she didnt even want to work!

I understand the need to screen the call and make sure it's a legitmate order but what about people who dont have a house phone but just a cellphone? Why the 21 questions?!

Enough ranting I am waiting for my dinner.

My response to that is "Your phone number doesn't come up with an address, either." (my local pizza place uses VOIP)

I hope you told her you were ordering from somewhere else.

People have a tendancy to include themselves in a group to the exclusion of others.. undre poor management in a retail job this takes the form of "Us against the customers". It's unfortunate for all parties really, but then low wage retail workers are not the sharpest cutlery in the drawer.

my number wont come up with an addy either cause its a Cell phone, and the area code is from a different state, the first time i called the local places i just gae them the addy and they added it in with no issues so it comes up now, sounds like that person was being a bitch

First, they can't punch in a phone number and have an address pop up, they can do that for some numbers but not for all. Are they going to refuse service to people with unlisted numbers? I doubt it.

Secondly, sounds like she sucks at her job. If you call a pizza place for the first time likely they don't have your number/address in their system. Simply explain it's your first time calling, or it's a new number.

Third, the numbers are legit, doesn't matter if they're cell or VoIP or whatever, they can't tell the difference.

Fourth, call back and ask for the owner/manager, explain to him what a PITA she was and that you're enjoying your pizza from the other place because of her attitude.

The next place I called was fine with it. She said she would call me back with my total to see if the number was legitimate. However, for them this doesnt assure much since I could say its for my neighbor two doors down and the number is my cellphone. Not that I would do that, but for them to call me back doesnt really do much.

Same sh!t happened to me at a friends place. They simply would not take an order coz his phone wasn't local! (He has a new york area code). They wouldn't let either of us order on our cellphones either. This was Papa Johns. Ended up driving to a local place with much better pizza 🙂

I would've went to the Papa Johns, call in the order from that NY phone and see what they say. Do it in front of them just to confront them.

try ordering online if available in your area. phone number doesn't matter since they'll see the location you enter.
